Savvy Rest is an American beddings brand that has created a leadership status quo with its organic beds.
But wait. Have you checked around for its mattresses’ prices? You’ll believe it when I say that they are darn expensive.
However, if you are of the opinion that quality comes at a price, then you would want to check out what their mattresses offer before shying away.
Our in-depth article of Savvy Rest Mattresses Brand review captures everything you need to know about this manufacturer and some of its mattresses.
Who Should Be Interested in Savvy Mattresses?
Right off the bat, the Savvy Rest mattresses are for homeowners who are willing and ready to spend handsomely on their bed.
This brand’s mattresses come in the 1k-4k ballparks which literally mean that they are not meant for everyone.
Other than that, the Savvy Mattresses are for people who are looking for non-toxic mattresses. Savvy Rest prides itself in its usage of organic materials from its certified organic latex to its unbleached organic cotton fabrics.
Therefore, these mattresses might suffice for people who are allergic to chemical fumes and cannot put up with memory foam.
Needless to mention, and considering the all-natural construction materials that this manufacturer uses, the Savvy Rest mattresses will also make a great deal if you are looking for a durable mattress.
Basically, these mattresses will make a great purchase if you;
- Are looking for a professionally engineered mattress designed for durability
- Want a near-natural mattress
- Are in need of a customizable mattress- more about this in the next section
- Are in need of a mattress that does not drown you in your own sweat at night
What makes Savvy Rest Mattresses unique?
Well, there are a couple of things that make Savvy Rest a go-to brand for most people even with its seeming high asking prices.
Uses natural components
To begin with, and as I have just hinted above, this will be your go-to brand if you are looking for a near-natural mattress.
Savvy Rest uses 3 major components for its mattresses; latex, wool, and cotton. The good thing here is that it uses natural latex without any traces of synthetic or blended latex. This explains why you’ll have to pay a little bit higher for its mattresses.
This company uses both Dunlop and Talalay latex. Although the latter uses a few more chemicals for its extraction, the good news is that it is Cradle-to-Cradle Gold Certified. Again, it is extracted using GreenGuard’s stringent standards for VOC testing.
On the same note, Savvy Rest uses organic wool for its batting and organic cotton for its mattress covers.
Most people seem to appreciate this with most of them pointing out that their mattresses didn’t have that chemical stench that memory foam mattresses are known for.
Does not rely on chemical flame barriers
Moreover, Savvy Rest does not use chemical flame retardants for its mattresses. This is because the organic wool and cotton are known to offer a natural fire barrier by themselves.
This alleviates you from the risk of being subjected to a number of health problems including cancer, breathing problems, and developmental brain disorders.
Get a custom-made mattress
I bet what most people love about this brand is the ability to customize the mattress to their likeness.
Some of the latest models from this brand including its flagship model, the Serenity, and the Tranquility allow you to choose the type of latex and density that goes into each of its layers.
Interestingly, could also get a mattress with a split configuration if you intend to use it with your partner. This means that each side will have different properties from the other side. Thus, there’ll be no need to compromise or get separate beds.
Judging from the reviews, most people seem to appreciate this versatility especially when there’s a struggle between the right firmness levels for the ideal mattress.
The only issue that most people raise is that this process prolongs the waiting time to close to a month. Needless to mention, having to wait for more than a week might seem like forever if you have a mattress that stirs hell on your bed.
Get finance for your Savvy Rest
100% natural latex is generally expensive. So, in my opinion, this manufacturer’s prices are justified. But this makes these mattresses quite unreachable for most homeowners.
Luckily, Savvy Rest has now partnered with Wells Fargo to offer you a friendly financing solution. This partnership allows you to get your mattress and pay for it for a period of 12 months without any interest. Click here to learn more about this special financing.
Major Mattress Product Lines
Savvy Rest does not have dedicated product lines as it’s the case with Ikea. Rather, it has 6 mattresses that feature different construction designs to offer varying comfort-support levels.
Here is a glimpse of some of the mattresses. I have done a detailed review of each of these mattresses later in this article. So, read on if you want deeper info on any model.
The Earthspring is a hybrid mattress although Savvy Rest markets it as an innerspring. This mattress combines a Bonnel-coil base system and a 3-inch natural Dunlop latex layer for its comfort section.
Atop the latex layer is organic wool batting to offer you some degree of comfort before landing on the latex layer. The entire mattress is encased in an organic cotton fabric cover.
The Earthspring has a height of 9 inches and it’s available in 4 sizes; twin, twin xl, full and queen.
This mattress will be a good choice for innerspring diehards who would also want to experience the support of latex.
It will also suit you if you are looking for a good mattress for back pains. Its affordability also renders it nicely as a good option for a guest’s or kid’s bed.
Savvy Rest Serenity Spring
The Serenity Spring is this brand’s latest addition to its collection. Similar to the Earthspring, the Serenity is a hybrid mattress employing a coil base and latex.
But what set it apart is its individually pocketed coil units. You should expect minimal motion transfer and better-localized support on this mattress than on the Earthspring. These coils are also way durable.
Another thing that you’ll certainly love about the Serenity Spring is the ability to ‘create your mattress’ just as you’d wish it to be. This means that you have total control over the type of latex used and the firmness of both the springs and the comfort layers.
Serenity Natural Latex Mattress
This is a sibling to the Serenity Spring above. The major difference, however, is that it scraps off the innerspring system and replaces it with thicker latex layers that add up to its 10-inch total height.
Of importance, you still have the option of choosing what type of latex to be used for each layer and the firmness levels.
This mattress is also available in split configurations for couples who never agree on the right comfort levels.
This model might make a good bet for people who don’t fancy the bounciness of innerspring mattresses but would appreciate the natural springiness of latex.
It might also please you if you want a firm mattress that you’ll ‘sleep on’ rather than sleeping inside of it as it’s the case with memory foam mattresses.
The Tranquility is pretty much similar to the Serenity only that it uses just 2 layers of latex that give it its 7-inch thickness.
This mattress is fully customizable. It might make a good choice for kids, toddler beds, bunk beds, and lightweight adults who like sleeping on a firm mattress.
Savvy Rest enjoys popularity among buyers who are looking for a near-natural mattress. If you’ve scoured around, you must have realized that most of its mattresses don’t have lots of reviews online. This could be as a result of its high price tags.
However, we did find a good number of reviews at savvyrest.com. True to the quality of its mattresses, most of its models have earned an impressive 4 or 5-star rating from most of its buyers.
One thing that stands out from the feedbacks is this company’s responsive customer care team. Most reviewers report that their grievances were handled with urgency and to their satisfaction- you really need this especially when spending a few grand on a mattress!
As expected, we didn’t come across any serious complaints regarding off-gassing and heating with most of its mattresses.
Savvy Rest has an A+ rating on BBB. There wasn’t positive review at the time of this review but there was a complaint about how the company handles its client’s personal information.
Warranty, Return, and Trial Policy
To our disappointment, Savvy Rest does not extend a try-at-home period for those who would like to purchase the mattress online.
Luckily, it has lots of outlets that you could try the mattress out before committing.
If you are eyeing the Serenity, Natural Latex, and the Tranquility among other mattresses that allow customization, you’ll need to be keen when choosing the type of latex and firmness level for each layer.
There is some good news though. Savvy Rest has a Latex Exchange Program that allows you to ship your mattress to the nearest store near you and have the latex exchanged.
This is a 90-day window that allows you to replace the type of latex (Dunlop or Talalay) with another one. You could also get a different firmness level for each of the layers.
Savvy Rest offers varying warranty periods for each mattress. For instance, while the Earthspring offers you a 10-year warranty, the Serenity Spring comes with an impressive 20-year backing.
Best Savvy Mattresses Reviews
Savvy Rest Earthspring Mattress- Best For Pain Relief
The Savvy Rest Earthspring is an interesting and relatively affordable mattress from this manufacturer. This mattress combines 3 popular mattress building materials to make a bed that most of us will love: coils, latex, and cotton.
The Earthspring is available in twin, twin xl, full and queen sizes and it’s yours if you are looking for a good mix of firmness, bounce, and breathability in the same mattress.
The queen size model features a 5-inch coil base boasting 312 Bonnell coils. Honestly, Bonnell coils aren’t the best in the industry but they make the mattress relatively affordable compared to pocketed springs.
These coils will offer you a good amount of bounce if that’s what you are looking for. They also offer a firm support and might, therefore, relieve and prevent back pains.
The major complaint that comes with this type of coil system is that it creates a valley in the middle where the 2 sleepers tend to collide. This system also tends to transfer motion the most.
But the Earthspring tries to minimize this with a 0.8cm sheet of coir (blend of latex and coconut fiber) and a 3-inch natural latex layer.
The good news here is that this comfort layer is made of Dunlop latex. Besides being breathable, this layer will conform to your body to offer support where you need it without creating that dreaded sinking feeling that memory foam is known for.
Who should buy the Earthspring?
Considering its medium-firm feel and general construction design, this mattress will be a good bet for virtually anyone and any sleeping posture.
However, given the drawbacks of the Bonnell coil system, I would recommend this mattress for a solo sleeper or a guestroom’s bed that isn’t used on a daily basis.
- It’s comfortable
- Innerspring-latex combo promises pain-relieving support
- Sleeps cool
- Comes with a 10-year warranty
- Bonnell coils transfer motion easily
Savvy Rest Serenity Springs- Best For Customized Comfort
Are you among lots of other couples who are always debating over the right firmness level when buying a mattress? Consider the Serenity Springs a simple but sure fix!
The Serenity Springs mattress is the latest release from Savvy Rest. This is a 12-inch hybrid mattress and an upgrade of the Earthspring that we’ve just seen.
Unlike the Earthspring, this model’s innerspring system features individually pocketed coils that perform better in terms of motion isolation. These coils also offer more localized support and are said to be the best in back pain pressure relief.
Similar to the Earthspring, this mattress uses a 3-inch latex comfort section which is great not only for comfort and support but also for durability.
But the main reason why this mattress features on our list today is the level of personalization that it presents.
If you are buying a mattress for a couple, the Serenity Springs’ Queen, King, and California King sizes allow you to get personalized configurations on the firmness of the springs, type of latex (Dunlop or latex), and the general feel of the mattress- soft, medium, or firm.
This means that each one of you can sleep on their desired sleeping surface while still in the same bed. I guess it never gets better than that!
In addition, this mattress is covered with an organic cotton cover to boost breathability. It also has an organic wool batting layer that offers a degree of comfort besides being a natural fire retardant.
Another interesting bit of this mattress is the Latex Exchange Program that offers you a 90-day window to exchange your mattress for a different type of latex and firmness level. Note that you’ll have to cater for the shipping costs.
This mattress also comes with an assuring 20-year warranty.
- Allows maximum comfort-support customization
- Best for couples who never agree on the right mattress
- Made of natural and certified materials for your safety
- 90-day exchange policy and 20-year warranty make it a risk-free purchase
- It’s expensive
- It’s heavy to move around alone
Serenity Natural Latex Mattress- Best For Support
Innerspring and hybrid mattresses make great beds until dust mites and other allergens become an issue.
If you are hypersensitive to these irritants, then getting the best mattress for allergies right away might be a viable option. In that case, the Serenity is a great option if you are eyeing a Savvy Rest mattress.
This mattress is available in 6 sizes; twin, twin xl, full, queen, king, and California king. What we are reviewing here is the queen mattress that has a height of 10 inches.
The Serenity is made of 3 layers of natural latex. The good news is that you have the freedom of choosing the type of latex and firmness level that you would like for each of the 3 layers.
Even better, couples also have the option of having individualized firmness levels for their individual sides.
Talalay or Dunlop?
The choice between these types of latex basically boils down to your preferences. Both of them offer a good amount of pressure-relieving support.
But Dunlop is known to be a little bit denser and more natural. Thus, it’s ideal for heavy folks (200lbs+) and people who love a more natural bed.
On the other hand, Talalay has a luxurious feeling and makes a good choice for people who love a mattress that ‘hugs’ them. Talalay is also slightly cheaper but it has a characteristic chemical smell since it uses more chemicals than Dunlop.
Check out this manufacturer’s recommendation on the best combination of these 2 types of latex and firmness levels here.
- It’s durable
- Has minimal odors
- Has good breathability for hot sleepers
- Tricky to get the right configuration
- Very pricey
Savvy Rest Unity Pillowtop- Best For Comfort
The Savvy Rest Unit Pillowtop is an upgrade of the Serenity Natural Latex mattress above. The major difference is that this model has a pillowtop design.
Actually, the Unity is a combination of the Serenity and the Harmony latex topper. Worth noting, this topper costs close to 3 grand on Amazon. But you get it at almost half this price when bought together as a single mattress.
The Unity mattress offers all the versatility that the Serenity extends, that is, you get to choose the type of latex for each layer and the firmness levels.
As usual, couples have the option of customizing their sleeping sides on the mattress to suit their preferences.
Lastly, and as it’s the case with all Savvy Rest mattresses, this mattress has certified organic wool batting that promotes airflow for a cool sleep. It also acts as a natural fire barrier.
- It’s durable
- Uses natural materials
- Does not sleep hot
- It’s pricey (as usual)
- It’s quite heavy
Pastoral Organic Wool Mattress- Best for Breathability
Most of us are used to wool toppers when we want to add some degree of comfort to a latex or firm memory foam mattress. Have you ever wondered how it would feel like to sleep on an all-wool mattress? Let’s find out with the Pastoral Wool Mattress by Savvy Rest.
The Pastoral mattress is an organic mattress that has been crafted with organic wool and cotton only. This mattress is available in all the standard sizes; Twin, Twin Xl, full, queen, king, and California King.
Other than the obvious difference in length-width sizes, these mattresses also feature a varying amount of the organic wool batting. For instance, the Twin size model features 22 pounds of this material while the California King carries a whole 48lbs.
What benefits does it offer?
One feature that sets this mattress apart is its excellent breathability. It offers you a plush and comfortable sleeping surface while keeping you cool during the hot season and warm during winter.
This mattress’ breathability gets a good boost from the organic cotton cover used for it. This is good news for people who toss and turn a lot at night due to heat.
The Pastoral Wool Mattress is well stuffed and although it decompresses once you lie on it, you should find it both comfortable and quite substantial.
Another good feature of this mattress is that its wool filling has natural fire retardant properties. This eliminates the use of smelly chemicals in your mattress.
You might also like that this mattress is way easier to move than a latex or memory foam mattress. Thus, getting it out for airing or vacuuming won’t be an issue at all.
Who should buy this mattress?
Now, the Pastoral Organic Wool mattress has a height of approximately 4.5 inches. But remember that all-wool mattresses are subject to compression after some use.
Considering that this model is intended to be used as a standalone mattress, I would only recommend it to adults weighing below 180 pounds.
This mattress won’t be a good fit especially for side sleepers who are over the 200-pound mark since they would tend to sink too much and feel the slats.
However, it should be a perfect deal if you are buying it for a kid or lightweight teen regardless of their sleeping postures.
- Usable during summer and winter
- Uses fewer chemicals
- It’s plush and comfortable
- Easy to move
- It’s pricey
- Offers minimal bounce
In my opinion, Savvy Rest is a reliable mattress manufacturer if you can afford its mattresses. Its high prices are justified by 1) the organic materials that it uses 2) the freedom to fully customize the mattress in terms of latex type and firmness level.
If I had to help you pick just one, then the Serenity Natural Latex would be my best recommendation.
What I like most about it is that it’s made of 100% latex. Unlike memory foam, you can expect some amount of bounce with this mattress thanks to the natural springiness of latex.
The good thing is that it isn’t as noisy as the hybrid models and it’s also hypoallergenic. Worth mentioning, this mattress will make a great bet for everyone.
The organic cotton cover and certified wool batting mean that there is no direct contact with the latex layers. Thus, it shouldn’t be an issue even if you are allergic to latex itself.
